Chances of Pregnancy For Different Age Groups

Early 20s are the best time for a lady to get pregnant. When women are in the age group of 20-24, as much as 90% of their eggs are in fine condition from a chromosomal point of view. This means that the chances of the baby being healthy are on the higher side. On an average, a woman is at the peak of her fertility by the age of 24. This is something that doctors say as well. It has been seen that women, younger than 25, can conceive each year if they are aiming to do it in each month. There is a 96% chance of such a happening.
However, if the man is younger than 25 then the chances of conceiving can come down to around 92%. In most cases it has been seen that among young couples men have fertility-related issues. Most of these issues can be treated rather easily – some even without the help of a physician. However, if it takes more than a year to conceive then one might have to visit a doctor.
Mid to late 20s
When women are in the age group of 25 to 29 they have an 86% chance of having a healthy baby. However, the chances of miscarriage are at 10%, which is slightly more than women in their early 20s. With regular sexual activities it might not be that hard for a lady in this age group to conceive in the span of a year. However, once again, if someone has gone a year without a baby then it might be worthwhile to take the opinion of a doctor.
Early 30s
The chances of conceiving a healthy baby in the age group of 30 to 34 are still on the higher side – 86%. This is especially applicable for couples that have been trying for a whole year to become parents. However, the chance of miscarriage at this age also go up to 20%, which is double of what one sees in the previous age group. Normally, one should not need fertility treatment in this age. However, if couples have been going at it for a year without success then one may need to see at least a primary care physician or even a gynaecologist. In fact, they should be consulted if there is no success after 9 months. This way they are able to identify the exact area of problem before a lady turns 35.
Mid to late 30s
Doctors say that women in the age group of 35 to 39 always have a good chance of becoming pregnant, especially before they turn 37. At the age of 35 women stand a 15-20% chance of becoming pregnant in a month, especially if they wanted to do so. That means a 78% chance of being pregnant in a year. However, 35 is also the age when a woman starts to lose her fertility. Doctors say that the commonest reason for this is the reduced quality of one’s eggs. The chances of miscarriage are higher as well.
