Intra-uterine Insemination (IUI) is a treatment for infertility that can assist individuals who have been unsuccessful in conceiving due to various reasons. IUI treatment is recommended for women with unexplained infertility, ovulating issues, mild male-factor infertility, as well as couples/ladies who need to use donor sperm.
The process involves several steps, beginning with ovarian stimulation medication to promote the development of at least one mature follicle in the ovaries. Pelvic ultrasounds are used to monitor the endometrium (lining of the uterus) and track follicle development. Blood tests are also done to measure hormone levels and determine a woman’s most fertile time. The final stage is insemination, where washed and selected sperm is placed in the uterus using a catheter.
